The US average retail diesel price rose 1.4 cents to $3.064 a gallon in the Department of Energy report of October 28. It remains about 27 cents below a year earlier, and the West Coast saw the largest increase.
Retail diesel is only slightly higher week over week and well below last year, so trucking and feed delivery costs are roughly stable. The modest move does not change the price outlook.
After 22 past neutral report events, ULSD / Diesel moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -3.5% to +2.7%), and -0.2% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
