USDA raised its milk production forecast for 2019 and 2020 because of stronger milk per cow and higher cow numbers. The 2019 all-milk price was raised five cents to $18.40/cwt, and the 2020 price was unchanged at $18.85/cwt.
Cheese and nonfat dry milk price forecasts were raised, while butter and whey were reduced.
Expanded milk supply is a bearish factor for dairy prices, but firmer cheese and powder prices offset part of that pressure. The net result is a stable 2020 all-milk outlook.
