Preliminary GRDC-funded trials in Western Australia found that higher nitrogen rates raised yields by 0.4-0.5 t/ha on early-sown oats. Delayed sowing in 2019 cut yields by 36 percent and limited the benefit of extra nitrogen.
Agronomy findings on nitrogen and sowing timing affect future oat yield and quality, but they are unlikely to move prices in the near term.
After 35 past neutral report events, Oats moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.9% to +2.5%), and -1.2% over 20.
