CBOT soybean futures rose for a third session after USDA's daily reporting system confirmed sales of 522,000 tonnes of US soybeans to China and 351,000 tonnes to unknown destinations. December corn gained 3.5 cents, while September wheat fell 15.5 cents after a three-week rally.
China has booked over 3 million tonnes of US corn since July 10.
Fresh Chinese purchases of US soybeans and corn tighten old-crop supplies and support prices, though forecast Midwest rains limit gains. Lower wheat prices reduce the appeal of wheat as a feed substitute.
