The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service expects Canadian oilseed production to rise 6 percent to 26.58 million tonnes in 2021-22, mainly from more canola area and better yields. Canola beginning stocks are projected to fall to about 700,000 tonnes, 2.4 million tonnes below the prior year.
Total oilseed exports are forecast to fall 7 percent.
A sharp drop in canola carry-in stocks tightens supply until the new crop arrives, which supports canola prices. The larger expected crop offsets part of that tightness and limits upside.
