The Solvent Extractors' Association of India asked the government to allow soyabean meal imports, including GM varieties, until September 30 to help the poultry sector. The association said soyabean meal prices rose from about ₹36,000 a tonne in November to ₹71,000 in July, and that world supplies are available at less than half the domestic price.
Higher Indian meal prices squeeze poultry feed margins and, if imports are allowed, would add export demand for world soybean meal and pressure domestic prices lower.
After 172 past bullish policy events, Soybean Meal moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -1.5% to +1.7%), and -0.8% over 20.
