France's farm ministry forecasts 2021 soft wheat output at 37.1 million tonnes, up 27.1% from 2020 and 11.2% above the five-year average. The forecast rests on a yield of 7.51 t/ha on 4.94 million hectares.
The ministry also pegged the all-barley harvest at 11.3 million tonnes, up 8.4%.
A larger French crop adds to EU supplies and weighs on wheat export prices, with feed wheat competing for buyers. Barley supply is also ample, which tends to keep feed grain costs contained.
After 1,006 past bearish report events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.8%), and +0.3% over 20.
