The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service upgraded its Agricultural Transportation Open Data Platform, known as AgTransport 3.0, with new datasets on rail, truck, barge and ocean transport. The update also adds international transport cost data and an online version of a 2021 transportation research compendium.
The upgrade improves public access to freight cost and movement data, which helps buyers time purchases and compare transport costs. It does not itself move prices.
