Most Latin American currencies fell against a firmer dollar on March 10 after US consumer prices surged in February, raising bets on a Federal Reserve rate hike in March. The Brazilian real, Colombian peso and Mexican peso lost between 0.1% and 2%, while copper-linked Chilean and Peruvian currencies gained.
Petrobras also said it would raise fuel prices.
A stronger dollar and rate-hike expectations make dollar-priced feed imports more expensive for Latin American buyers, and higher fuel costs add to inflation pressure on feed and freight.
