Kazakhstan's vegetable oil output nearly doubled in the first half of the 2022/23 marketing year to 292,338 tonnes, with crude sunflower oil up 113%. Kazakh oil plants also produced over 251,000 tonnes of sunflower meal and cake from September to February, 105% more than a year earlier.
Plans call for expanded refining capacity in 2023-2024.
Larger Kazakh sunflower meal output adds feed protein supply in Central Asia and nearby markets, which can soften sunflower meal prices. Higher oil output also adds competing vegetable oil supply.
