The EIA published an Issues in Focus supplement to its Annual Energy Outlook 2023 on the effects of LNG exports on US natural gas markets. It modeled three side cases and found that export volumes do affect domestic prices, though the resulting price range was narrower than recent history.
Projected 2050 LNG exports range from 15.3 to 48.2 Bcf/d across the cases.
The study suggests LNG export growth moves domestic gas prices but within a limited band, so feed-relevant energy costs are less exposed to export-capacity swings than often assumed.
After 40 past neutral report events, Natural Gas moved a median +1.2% over 5 sessions (60% higher; middle half -3.5% to +2.8%), and +4.5% over 20.
