Export results in 2023 provide stepping stone for rice sector next year

A USDA FAS report estimates Thai rice exports at 8 million tonnes in 2022-23, the highest in five years. It also revised 2023-24 Thai milled production up slightly to 19.8 million tonnes, still 5% below last year.

WHY IT MATTERS

Strong Thai export demand and a smaller crop next season support prices for rice in the Asian export market. Buyers should expect firm Thai quotes.
