The Philippines Department of Agriculture banned imports of live cattle and buffalo from Libya, Russia, South Korea and Thailand over lumpy skin disease outbreaks. The order suspends processing of sanitary clearances and orders seizure of noncompliant shipments, while safe commodities such as meat, gelatine, and tallow remain allowed.
The ban removes some live cattle demand from import markets in Asia, a small shift in global live animal trade. Limited direct effect on feed grain or meal prices.
After 69 past neutral disease events, Live Cattle moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (42% higher; middle half -0.8% to +0.6%), and +0.9% over 20.
