Re-export demand for DAP at New Orleans pushed prices up, with barges trading at $640-645/st fob and new offers at $650/st fob, about 4pc above last week. Nearly all the barges sold were for re-export to a major global distributor with a large position in Latin America.
Traders are also weighing supply risk from Saudi Arabia because of the Iran conflict.
Re-exports tighten US phosphate supply during spring demand, and possible Strait of Hormuz disruption to Saudi cargoes could tighten global DAP further, supporting prices. Weak farmer affordability may limit how far those gains carry.
After 193 past bullish trade events, DAP moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -0.3% to +1.8%), and +1.9% over 20.
