The Indonesian rupiah closed slightly weaker on Friday, down 0.20% to 15,455 per US dollar, as markets awaited the US PCE inflation release. Weaker-than-expected US jobless claims and higher US Treasury yields weighed on the currency, while state-owned enterprises bought dollars to repay debt at month-end.
A firmer dollar and weaker rupiah make dollar-priced feed imports more expensive for Indonesian buyers, which can lift local feed costs for corn, soybean meal and other ingredients. The effect on global commodity prices is limited.
