The US soybean industry plans to expand demand in 2027 and diversify away from China, according to industry heads at an Agri-Pulse webinar on October 29. China is likely to meet its annual pledge to buy 25 million tonnes of US soybeans, and US soybean meal exports of about 12 million tonnes a year could double over the next few years.
A larger US meal export program would tighten or support US soybean meal supply for export buyers, and a firm China purchase commitment supports soybean demand. The effect on prices is gradual because the plans are long-term.
