Regulation (EU) 2024/3234, published December 23, 2024, postpones application of the EU Deforestation Regulation by one year to December 30, 2025. The Commission published an updated FAQ in November, and LCB and ATIBT published their interpretation to help companies comply.
The delay gives exporters of palm oil, soy, cocoa and coffee more time before due diligence rules apply, which removes near-term pressure to segregate deforestation-free supply and slightly eases pressure on EU-bound palm and soy demand.
After 513 past neutral policy events, Palm Oil moved a median 0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.4%), and -0.1% over 20.
