India's food ministry has proposed lifting the export ban on wheat products, suggesting up to 1 million tonnes be allowed. The proposal comes as CPI inflation hit a record low of 0.3% and wholesale wheat prices fell about 12% year on year, with the FCI holding about 30.5 MT of wheat.
Surplus Indian wheat and a possible reopening of product exports would add some export demand, which is supportive for wheat. Weak domestic prices, however, limit how much Indian export demand can lift global prices.
After 182 past bullish policy events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (52% higher; middle half -1.9% to +1.4%), and -0.3% over 20.
