Shipping companies have begun reintroducing services through the Suez Canal after the Houthis announced a ceasefire on commercial shipping on Nov. 25.
The Red Sea diversions had disrupted global trade, including oilseed and vegetable oil shipments. Grain and oilseed volumes through Suez had fallen sharply after the attacks began.
Returning to the Suez route shortens Asia-Europe voyages and lowers freight costs, which eases pressure on vegetable oil and grain delivered prices. Lower freight is bearish for shipping rates and palm oil landed costs.
