Malaysia's finance ministry revised crude palm oil export duty rates in the Budget 2025 appendix, effective November 1, 2024. The duty starts at 0 percent for prices at or below RM2,250 per tonne and rises to 10 percent above RM4,050.
The ministry said the revision is intended to ensure adequate domestic supply and to boost downstream processing into biodiesel and oleochemicals.
A steeper export duty schedule limits Malaysian crude palm oil exports and keeps more supply at home, which tends to pressure the international palm oil price. Higher downstream output may also shift trade toward refined palm products.
After 400 past bearish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and +0.2% over 20.
