Indonesia's deputy energy minister said the country needs about 2 million more tons of methanol per year to implement the 50% biodiesel blend, B50, in 2026. Domestic production is only about 300,000 tons, so the rest must be imported.
Higher B50 targets would require more palm oil for biodiesel, and methanol import needs could raise costs for the biodiesel program.
