China has bought about 12 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans, fulfilling a U.S.-stated pledge to purchase that volume by the end of February, according to three traders. The buying followed a late-October trade truce.
China recorded no US imports for four months from September, and US market share fell to 15% from 21% in 2024.
Fulfilling the pledge supports US soybean export demand and may firm US prices, but US share remains well below 2024 levels, limiting upside versus Brazilian supply.
After 696 past bullish trade events, Soybeans moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.9%), and +0.7% over 20.
