The UN Black Sea Grain Initiative has exported 32.8 million tons of grain and foodstuffs from three Ukrainian ports in its first year. Only one vessel remains under the deal, and 29 applications from ships in Turkish waters have not been approved by all parties.
No vessel has been allowed into Yuzhny/Pivdennyi since 29 April, and renewal is due on 17 July.
If the Initiative lapses, Ukrainian wheat and corn exports face a sharp drop in safe shipping capacity, which tightens global supply and supports prices for buyers of feed grains.
