The EPA finalized increases in renewable fuel volume requirements across all biofuel categories under the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2017, with biomass-based diesel set for 2018. Conventional renewable fuel reaches the 15 billion-gallon congressional target, and cellulosic biofuel grows 35 percent over 2016.
Higher mandated biodiesel and advanced biofuel volumes lift demand for soybean oil and palm oil as feedstocks, supporting vegetable oil prices and crush margins that also boost soybean meal supply.
