Spanish stevedores called off four days of strikes that were set for March 17 onward. The walkout was cancelled after Congress rejected a government decree meant to break the stevedores' monopoly and align the sector with EU rules.
Negotiations were due to resume the following Tuesday.
Spanish port strikes mainly affect fresh fruit and vegetable exports, so the averted action has little effect on feed grain prices. Renewed stoppages would still matter for citrus and produce logistics.
