Australian cropping regions are diverging, with southern WA, SA and Victoria recovering from a dry start. Northern and western NSW, northern WA and southern Queensland have been hit by heat and frost, and analysts have cut crop forecasts in those areas over the past fortnight.
Downgrades in northern and western crops reduce the available domestic wheat and barley supply. Southern recovery limits the price impact, so the net effect is modest.
