USDA's August crop report projected U.S. corn yield at 169.5 bushels per acre and soybean yield at 49.4 bushels per acre, both well above trade expectations. Corn production was pegged at 14.2 billion bushels, and futures fell sharply on the Chicago Board of Trade.
Larger-than-expected U.S. corn and soybean supplies lower futures and point to cheaper feed grains and soybean meal for buyers through the new crop year.
