The EIA reported U.S. LNG exports reached 1.94 Bcf/d in 2017, up from 0.5 Bcf/d in 2016, all from Sabine Pass. Mexico, South Korea and China took 53% of volumes, and almost 60% was sold on the spot market.
Rapid growth in U.S. LNG exports links domestic Henry Hub prices more closely to global demand, which can tighten U.S. gas supply. This is a retrospective government data release with limited immediate price impact.
