CEDIGAZ estimates that global natural gas consumption rose 3.3% to a record 3,640 bcm in 2017. Chinese demand grew about 15% on coal-to-gas switching, while U.S. consumption fell 1.4% as prices rose.
Strong global gas demand, led by China, supports the outlook for gas prices and LNG trade. Higher gas prices raise energy and fertilizer input costs for feed producers.
