Investors are hesitating over planned US soybean crushing plants in Wisconsin and New York because of the US-China trade war. China has largely stopped buying US beans and has bought from Brazil since its 25% tariff in July.
Crush margins are strong but seen as uncertain before the March 2 deadline.
Weaker expected crush capacity growth limits the outlet for US beans and the future meal and oil supply, which keeps pressure on soybean prices while the trade dispute is unresolved.
