A quality problem called falling numbers is affecting hard red spring wheat farmers from Minnesota to Montana. Farmers say they have no control over the issue, which lowers wheat quality.
Falling numbers reduces the grade and feed value of affected wheat, which could push buyers toward other feed grains and widen discounts on hard red spring supplies.
