More than 190 farm groups and agribusiness firms sent a 13-page letter to President Trump urging him to preserve the phase one China trade agreement. The letter says current US farm exports to China lag the pace needed to meet phase one goals.
It also warns of oversupply in world grain and oilseed markets.
Industry pressure to keep the deal supports the case for continued Chinese purchases, but the letter underscores weak export pace and global oversupply, which are bearish for US grain and oilseed prices.
