A World Fertilizer analysis reports weak profitability for Indian phosphate and potash producers through FY2016 to FY2020. Government fertilizer subsidy arrears are projected to rise from about Rs 470 billion to Rs 570 billion by FY2021, with risk of a much larger backlog if budgets are cut.
