EU REDD Facility reviewed 2020, noting that COVID-19 sharply reduced exports of forest-risk commodities. Partner countries are pursuing supply-chain transparency for palm oil, soy and cocoa in Latin America, West Africa and Indonesia.
Lower exports of forest-risk commodities reflect weaker demand during the pandemic. Growing traceability requirements could also gradually raise compliance costs for soy and palm oil exporters.
