President Alberto Fernandez pledged in his inaugural congressional speech to promote value-added agricultural exports through tax incentives. He said export duties on processed products have been cut, with soymeal and soyoil duties at 31% against 33% for soybeans.
The government is also trying to rebuild revenue hit by the pandemic and inflation.
Lower export duties on meal and oil relative to beans could encourage more crushing and processed exports, supporting meal and oil supply. The effect on prices is modest and depends on implementation.
