South Korea's state-backed Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp bought an estimated 46,229 tonnes of rice in a tender for shipment May to October. Thai non-glutinous rice was bought at $607-618 per tonne c&f and Vietnamese at $584 per tonne c&f.
The purchase is sourced from Thailand, Vietnam and China.
Import tenders provide firm demand for Thai and Vietnamese rice and set reference export prices. Purchases at these levels support Asian export quotes.
