India's DGFT amended the broken rice export policy on November 7, 2022, moving it from free to prohibited, with a retroactive window from September 9 to 15 allowing certain already-loaded or registered consignments to ship. The notice formalizes the earlier ban and its narrow exemptions.
A confirmed ban on broken rice exports keeps Indian supply restricted, supporting Asian rice prices and helping importers' costs stay firm.
