India's DGFT amended the non-basmati rice export policy so that exporters must register contracts with APEDA before shipping. The notification is dated September 24, with a stated effective date of October 6, 2025.
The added registration step creates an administrative hurdle for non-basmati rice exports, which can slow shipments and firm up offers from the world's largest rice exporter.
