USDA's Cattle on Feed report showed placements in December down 8% year over year and January 1 inventory down 3%. Cash fed cattle prices fell $2.50/cwt the prior week while the Choice cutout dropped $6.80 to $271.72.
Tighter feedlot placements and a smaller fed cattle supply support cattle prices over the coming months, which tightens beef-related feed demand outlook.
