New Zealand's myNZTE guidance explains that exporters of beef, cattle hides, coffee, cocoa, rubber, soya, palm oil and wood products to the EU must help importers provide a statement that the land was not recently deforested. The obligation falls mainly on the importer placing goods on the EU market, and exporters must supply geolocation data.
Geolocation and due diligence requirements add cost and administrative burden for exporters of beef and soy products, which could divert some trade away from EU markets.
