ECB policymaker Pierre Wunsch said a euro falling to parity with the dollar would offset the impact of 10% US tariffs on euro zone growth, though it would raise inflation. He called market bets on four more ECB rate cuts next year a meaningful scenario but said the ECB could change course if data required it.
A weaker euro makes euro zone exports cheaper and dollar-priced imports like feed ingredients dearer for European buyers, which can shift trade flows and the relative cost of US and Brazilian feed.
