Rabobank analysis says urea, phosphate and potash prices in Australian dollar terms rose strongly over the past year, with urea up 18.3% year-on-year. The Australian dollar has fallen about 8% over five months, and natural gas feedstock volatility is adding to urea supply pressure.
Currency weakness and gas-linked feedstock costs are keeping fertiliser prices high for importers, limiting downside. Feed producers face higher input costs for crops.
