MID-SHIP's June 5 2025 dry bulk report says the market remains consistent with early 2025 conditions, with a mature commodity cycle, moderate fleet growth and geopolitical uncertainty. The Brazil-to-China Capesize route rose above $24 per ton from $18.20 a month earlier, while Panamax rates fell from about $12,400 to $10,000 per day during May.
Higher Capesize and Panamax freight raises the landed cost of South American and US grain and oilseeds into Asia, which narrows FOB export margins and can pressure farm-gate prices in exporting regions.
