CME cattle futures fell on Monday, Aug. 25, as screwworm concerns and profit-taking pulled prices off the prior week's contract highs.
The US reported a first travel-associated human New World screwworm case, acquired in El Salvador, and October live cattle settled at 236.825 cents per pound.
Screwworm risk headlines add volatility, but tight supply and firm boxed beef keep the underlying cattle price trend supported for buyers.
