The pound fell about 0.56% to $1.3742 against the dollar on Friday as the greenback gained on expectations that Kevin Warsh would be named the next Fed chair. Sterling was steady against the euro at about 86.70 pence.
Markets were also looking ahead to the Bank of England meeting the following week, where a hold is widely expected.
