Indonesian plantation players say they can supply the extra crude palm oil needed for 2026 under the B50 biodiesel mandate, which took effect July 1 and raised the palm-based blend from 40% to 50%. Producers expect national CPO output of about 53 million tonnes this year, but warn that sustaining B50 will need 55-60 million tonnes annually, with El Niño a risk to future harvests.
Biodiesel absorption of roughly 1.74 million extra tonnes reduces exportable palm oil, which supports global vegetable oil prices, while future supply risk from El Niño adds upside pressure.
