The FAO World Food Price Index averaged 124.3 points in December 2025, down 0.6% from November, on lower dairy, meat and vegetable oil indexes. The cereal index rose 1.7% on Black Sea wheat concerns and strong corn export demand, and the FAO Rice Price Index rose 4.3%.
Higher cereal and rice sub-indexes point to firmer global grain prices heading into 2026, even as oversupply still caps wheat. Lower meat and dairy indexes signal softer demand pressure in those segments.
