The US average retail diesel price rose 1.6 cents to $3.086 a gallon, the fourth straight week above $3, while crude slipped below $64 a barrel. Diesel increased in every region, most in New England and California, according to the EIA.
Retail diesel reflects wholesale costs and affects trucking and feed delivery expenses. With crude weakening, the small retail rise points to limited near-term upward pressure on fuel-linked feed costs.
