Reuters reports Indonesian biodiesel production will reach 3.5 million metric tons this year, up as much as 600,000 tons from last year. The national oil palm estate fund raised $147 million in January and February through a levy on palm oil exports to subsidize domestic biodiesel use.
Malaysia could see output rise to 1 million tons if its blending mandate is raised to 10% for industrial vehicles and 7% for passenger vehicles.
Higher domestic biodiesel absorption diverts palm oil from exports and stocks, which is supportive for palm and soy oil prices and for the vegetable oil complex used in feed fats.
