Eighteen ethanol plants with about 1 billion gallons of combined capacity are temporarily or permanently closed, according to the RFA. The RFA says this removes demand for 350 million bushels of corn and eliminates about 3 million metric tons of DDGS production, which it attributes to small refinery exemptions.
